While serving in the Army during 9/11, I was intrigued with New York City and the NYPD. After serving in the Army, I went to New York and took the test to become one of New York’s Finest. I got to see things most people only dream about. When the opportunity arose to return to Western New York and continue to be a police officer, I was honored to be able to do something I love and return home. Because of the differences in the pension systems, I was able to file for early retirement with the NYPD before accepting a job as a police officer with the State University Police. I am thankful for my time as a SUNY police officer because I was able to complete a bachelor’s degree and start a master’s degree program with SUNY assistance. After completing my studies, I went on to become a criminal investigator and then senior criminal investigator with the Health Department.
