Chris' Time in Public Service

While serving in the Army during 9/11, I was intrigued with New York City and the NYPD. After serving in the Army, I went to New York and took the test to become one of New York’s Finest. I got to see things most people only dream about. When the opportunity arose to return to Western New York and continue to be a police officer, I was honored to be able to do something I love and return home. Because of the differences in the pension systems, I was able to file for early retirement with the NYPD before accepting a job as a police officer with the State University Police. I am thankful for my time as a SUNY police officer because I was able to complete a bachelor’s degree and start a master’s degree program with SUNY assistance. After completing my studies, I went on to become a criminal investigator and then senior criminal investigator with the Health Department. My work leads me to partner with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. I still work as a police officer part time with one of our local agencies here in Erie County.

I am honored to say that I have served our country, I’m serving our community, and now I’m serving you as your council member.

My law enforcement career has left a legacy behind of people that I have helped and people I will continue to help. To quote Sir Robert Peel, “The Police are the Public; the Public are the Police. The Police are paid to give full time attention to duties that are incumbent upon every citizen in the interest of community welfare and existence.”

I thank you for taking the time to read about my law enforcement background. Please feel free to call, text, or email if you would like to meet in person. I love meeting all my neighbors!

I DO NOT Support Overriding the Tax Cap!

I OPPOSE Overriding the Tax Cap! We should not be adopting a budget that is unfair to tax payers.   What is the Real Property Tax Cap? With some exceptions, the State’s Property Tax Cap limits the amount local governments and most school districts can increase the tax levy (the total amount of property taxes billed) to the lower of two percent or the rate of inflation. (Individual property tax bills are based on various factors, and they may increase more than two percent.) Local governments, citizens and the Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) play important roles in the process. Local governments, libraries, schools (except New York City) and fire districts must report to OSC: the information necessary to calculate their tax levy limit; and, whether they plan to stay within the Tax Cap. Local government boards must pass a local law or resolution by at least a 60 percent vote to override the Tax Cap. Counties, cities and villages are already subject...

What is a DRI (Downtown Revitalization Initiative)?

Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Governor Hochul has made downtown revitalization a central component of the State’s economic development policy. The DRI and NY Forward will accelerate and expand New York’s downtown revitalization. NY’s downtowns are the heart and soul of our regions. Utilizing the Department of State’s plan-then-act strategy, the synergy between the DRI and NY Forward connects the renaissance of magnet cities with the revitalization of smaller downtowns – creating greater opportunities for New York residents, businesses and visitors.  New York State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) is a cornerstone of the State's economic development program. The DRI transforms downtown neighborhoods into vibrant centers that offer a high quality of life and are magnets for redevelopment, business, job creation, and economic and housing diversity. These compact, walkable downtowns are a key ingredient to helping New York State rebuild its economy f...

Supporting Our Library

Chris has a great relationship with the local library. Not only because the library is in the 2nd Ward, but because Chris is an active user of the library with his seven-year-old daughter. Earlier this year, Chris donated the paint, rocks, and paint brushes to start the “Stella the Rock Snake” art project. Recently, Chris donated the grand prizes for the library’s “Kids Summer Reading Tracker” program which begins June 30, 2025, and ends on August 23, 2025, with the winners of the grand prizes being announced on Monday August 25, 2025. Chris said, “This is a great opportunity to get kids engaged with reading during the summer. I volunteered to donate non-electronic grand prizes to support this great program that Library Director John Gaff has created. Reading is the gift that keeps on giving.”
